"Slice Of Love"

I was happy with our Music Video... I listened to the comments, I understand what everyone was talking about. I agree that there are some changes that can be done to make it even better. (But still I loved what we have) I know that Amir and Michael are going to work on it and if I have time... I certainly want to be apart of that. I too wanted to see the guy get the girl but I thought that it would then make it narrative. Overall I think everyone did a great job. The other videos were just as great.

***Music Video***

Hey Group... if you didn't know, over the weekend Michael and Amir got together and worked on the video. I had an opportunity to check it out and it looks really good! Patrick when you have a chance you should go by and check out sound levels.. etc. I am happy with what has been done so once this is done we are ready to print to tape.

Great job!

HELLO

Hello All…
I’m not great on blogging.. but really.. I’m trying.. I just have to mention that I think the festival workshop was really cool. There are so many festivals out there and one thing is for sure, if you want to be noticed and get your work out there… the possibilities are just endless. I can’t wait for my opportunity. This is all so exciting for me and I am so.. so.. amazed and inspired by all the talent that is in this class. I look forward to hearing about all of you in the future!
Good luck to all of you!

"A SLICE OF LOVE"

"All I want is a slice of Love" The music is still in my head today... What about you?

Well, I think that we heard the song enough times this past weekend. My two girls are even singing the song and it's funny because I actually thought I heard it on the radio.

Overall I believe our video shoot went very well. I had a really awesome crew.. Debbie was my super producer, Amir, the artist with the camera... he really knows what he's doing. Michael was just a real positive.... he was ready to enter it in festivals before we even started filming. I thought that was great! Also, he was really working the lights... I think he even removed the yield, off of a street light on his was to the shoot. Patrick was our actor he was great! "The Del Zorros", I have to say they were really awesome as well, they were really happy to be apart of what we were doing. I think once the get a better understanding of what the contract really means, they wont have a problem signing a clean contract. This was my first time working on the set as a director for a moving picture.. before I had only worked with stills.. in the 201, so this was a real experience for me. I was so... so... nervous but I think everyone was pretty supportive of the idea. My biggest issue was staying away from the narrative.. (NO... NO...) I worked really had at that. I think we actually came up with some awesome ideas and its going to turn out just fine. Once I see the actual footage, I will be happy and proud of a job well done. Great job crew!

My Self Portrait / Music Video

... I really enjoyed this project. I of course used my family as my inspiration. I first just filmed my everyday life.. hanging out with my girls... etc. Then I begin to wonder if it was just too much. Yeah... cause there was no way I was going to fit almost an hour or taping into a 3 minute short. So, I pretty much spent much of my time in the lab saying no.. don't need that... no not that... not to serious.. and so on. My finished project I used the things that matter to me most. I am glad with that.

MUSIC VIDEO
Over the weekend I had an opportunity to meet with our music group. They are some really nice guys and their music is really cool. I assume that everyone has a copy of the song. (Thanks to Michael) Our last group meeting was good.. so when the dust settles from our own self portraits we should really get together soon and make a plan!!

Project 1

The Finished Project
- Happy as a dog with two tails…
What a laugh.. I am so glad that it is over with. I was really excited in the beginning of this assignment. I thought that it would be really cool to mix all the sounds together and then add the pictures.. Etc. etc.. but after while honestly it was all just so frustrating. When it got down to putting it all together to complete the project imagine my surprise when I found out that my partner did not know final cut… and imagine her surprise when she found out that I did not know final cut.. Well it was like the blind leading the blind. I know that this was surely a set up for failure. On Saturday afternoon up until the late evening.. We were still in the lab trying to figure things out… and it still wasn’t good enough. At least not until…. We ran into some other students working on their project they were kind enough to give us a crash course they were able to give us some great pointers…. And thank heavens our project is now complete. It may not be the best of the best but we came along way. If nothing else we now know final cut… (A little more now since yesterday) Thanks for the help!

Light Source

Light Source 1
In a poorly lite room on the table there is a candle in a red class candle holder
It sits upon a white table cloth. As we sit at the table as air blow cross the top of the
Candle it flickers light across the table and ceiling. As we sit and talk the candle illuminates our faces it looks a little spooky .The light bounces off the glasses on the table and shimmers against the silverware. The table cloth reflects shades of pink..
Light Source 2
I sit at a table next to a window…. My only light source is the sun that shines through. My back is turned to it but it shines onto the book I am reading.. Give or take a few shadows from the shades… The sun casts shadows across the pages of my book as well as shadows across the table moving across the floor just touching the end of the hall.

Night Lights

Sitting in my car waiting for my passenger...
I sit and I wait... wait and I sit....
Headlights from my car bounce off the living room window illuminating
a dark room i guess.
I turn them off -
There is the moon above lighting up a deep dark blue sky
street lights that loom from a block over I can see visibly from the back yard
A short in my car radio causes a blinking light... 8:30.. 8:30 8:30... (I'm late)

House lights....
the light in the bedroom goes out-
the light in the living room comes on-
I can tell that my passenger is getting closer to the door as
lights travels with her
closer and closer to the door
The porch light comes on....
the car door opens the interior lights come on
dashboard lights come on.... oil.. seat belt.. gas.. check engine.. (oops I hope that goes off)
Headlights turn on... headlights bounce light off the living room window onto the bushes and onto the side of the house
Shade of red lights my path as I back out of the driveway... more headlights cross my pass..
streetlights... houselights... moonlights the night...

THE SOUND ASSIGNMENT I

As I have observed in this assignment, there are many sounds that just unnoticed. Sounds can be overlooked as just noise. But if you only listen you will hear the sounds you wouldn't ordinarily hear. From the sound journals and now to this group project.. I can say I have more appreciation for sound.. so to speak. I enjoyed watching the film about Glenn Gould because it put everything now into perspective.

My group canvased the grounds in search of sound... the elevator door; from the clashing or banging the door makes as it opens to the bell that rings that chimes (I'm here). The squeaky door in the women's bathroom, the sharpening of the knife.. cars, traffic.. etc. etc. There is sound everywhere you go and as you get there. Not one sound more significant than the other.

I have to say that I enjoyed working with my group. We worked hard to find the right sound, be creative and to make the project complete. Though we had some issues in the editing room... I am now learning that is to be expected.

SOUND JOURNAL

August 31, 2007

Western & Country Club Boulevard

I park my car at the gas station and roll down the windows….
The rumbling sounds of engines on cars big and small play all in unison
Wipe me down.. wipe me down… rap music plays from a car
While from another car I hear that someone is listening to talk radio
or possibly a self help tape
A car skids to a stop unable to beat the yield light
Sounds of a truck changing gears as it pulls out of
The parking lot
A lady talks on a cell phone
A man talks on a cell phone
The beat of music is coming from another car…
windows rolled up so the sound is
Muffled….
The Pepsi advertisement banner blows in the wind making a flapping sound
Cars speed off their engines rev
A bell rings in the distance..
Its coming from the gas station as it hangs above the door
A horn blows
Ignitions cuts off
Ignitions start up
A vacuum cleaner is running across the street
People talking as they walk back to their car
A car alarm goes off

September 2, 2007

In the AM…
Sounds of the coffee pot as it brews its finest
The dripping of the faucet
Sounds of the television from the next room
Dog barks then scratches at the aluminum door
Pouring coffee into the cup, the sound of the spoon as
It stirs into my cup
The coffee cup makes a clanking sound as it hits
Up against the class table,
Beep….the snooze alarm going off a second time
The phone rings
Voices
The phone clicks
The channel changes in the next room
Sounds of music, church, news, the kids channel
A child cries
More scratching on the door
The squeaking door is opened
My slippers slide across the floor
Birds chirping
The dog collar jingles
Claws are heard tapping on the tiled floors
The refrigerator hums
The air clicks off
Wooden floors creek, a child steps are heard coming down the hall
A little voice speaks

September 3, 2007

At the BEACH…
Waves rush in
The tied wash's up sand and sea weed
Bubbles on the sand pop
A child screams in the distance
A child laughs
The plastic bag rustles as it hangs from the beach chair
I pull the Arbor Mist bottle close to my lips
The wind blows across the bottle top
I hear a high pitch tone coming from the bottle
I take a sip, my lips smack
As I sip the wind blows across the bottle top
The tone becomes lower… lower… then low
A lady collecting shells walks by and as she adds a new shell to her collection the shells clink against one another.. the bag rustles
A couple walking on the beach talk… laugh..
Sounds of other children laughing
As I watch while they throw rocks and pebbles into the water
It makes a plopping sound
Birds flyover head squawking..
The sound of the wind blows against my ears…

About Me

Not a stranger to the performing arts, I grew up preforming at an early age singing, dancing and acting on the stage touring with my fathers performing arts group in and throughout Muncie, IN.

I graduated high school many many years ago and at that time I wasn't ready for college. I was only interested in living life outside of my parents restrictions. Though still, I spent one year attending Ball State University where I completed some of my general ed courses. After that one year I then moved to Los Angeles California.

Upon moving to California, I got a job working for a market research firm (NRG) where we worked with the movie studios screening movies that were in production. After being employed with NRG for about 3 years I moved into Corporate America working the various jobs in the Human Resources field. I held positions like; HR Coordinator (Oakwood Worldwide, Regional Employment Recruiter (CDI/CDC) and HR Specialist (Universal Studios, Motion Pictures) Although I worked in corporate America during the day I stayed involved in entertainment at night working in the music studios, singing working concert halls. I also worked on movie sets doing a little extra work here and there. After 10 years of being out in LA the dust and excitement of it all begin to settle and as it did so did I. I started a family.... After a few life changing events I found myself her in North Carolina, my place of refuge.

Since being here I have decided to submit to my passion in life and it is in the film industry. I started school at Coastal Carolina Community College about a year ago, attained my AA degree and transferred.

I am excited about my new course on life. My first semester was the summer 1 session and this now makes my second semester. My classes and instructors are great, each class is just a new experience for me and I plan to make the best out of my college years here at UNCW.
